Ambassador Celestini in San Marino for operative meetings

San Marino, 30 September 2021 – H.E. Amb. Prof. Marcello Celestini, who arrived in the Republic to take part in the inauguration ceremony of the new Captains Regent, held a series of meetings aimed at defining new collaborations with the San Marino authorities in the health and welfare fields and promoting new projects of the Order of Malta.

The first meeting took place at the Gendarmerie Corps where the Ambassador, accompanied by the members of the diplomatic mission, was received by the Chief of the Corps Col. Maurizio Faraone who illustrated the coordination activities carried out by the Gendarmerie in the event of natural disasters.

Subsequently, an operative meeting took place at the headquarters of the Civil Protection Service, with the presence of the Head of the Emilia Romagna Group of CISOM – Italian Relief Corps of the Order of Malta and the Head of the Rimini Group, during which they agreed on the basis for intensifying the collaboration between the two entities, particularly in the field of volunteer training.

At the headquarters of the Institute for Social Security, Amb. Celestini met the interim Director General Dr. Sergio Rabini who briefed those present on the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic and on the prevention and contrast actions undertaken by the Republic of San Marino, and to whom the Amb. Celestini presented the assistance project which, jointly with the Grand Prioral Delegation of Eastern Emilia – Romagna and CISOM, will be launched starting from summer 2022.

The subsequent meeting with Dr. Claudio Muccioli from the Health Authority made it possible to clarify the procedure to be followed to allow the Order of Malta’s volunteer health personnel to operate in the territory of the Republic of San Marino.
